David McCutcheon, one of Canada’s leading arbitrators and arbitration counsel, has joined Arbitration Place in Toronto as a Resident Arbitrator, effective 1 June 2017.

“I could not be happier to welcome David to Arbitration Place” said Kimberley Stewart, CEO of Arbitration Place. “His wealth of arbitration experienced is unmatched, and he is a committed supporter of the Canadian arbitration community both here and abroad.”

Throughout his career, most recently as a partner at global law firm Dentons LLP, David has received national and international recognition as a preeminent practitioner in the areas of litigation and arbitration. In particular, David is recognized in Chambers Global: The Guide to the World's Leading Lawyers for Business, and Euromoney’s Experts in Commercial Arbitration. He has also achieved an “AV” Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, one of the leading authorities on the legal profession.

“Arbitration Place provides me with the ideal platform to continue my ADR practice” said David McCutcheon. “It has a world-class group of ADR professionals and the full suite of facilities and services to support every aspect of a wide ranging ADR practice. It is the perfect fit for me and I am proud to join Arbitration Place as a resident arbitrator.”

Mr. McCutcheon is a current director of the ADR Institute of Canada and serves as one of Canada’s representatives on the NAFTA 2022 Committee. His ADR practice as counsel and neutral is primarily focussed on commercial disputes including real estate, construction, environmental, corporate and shareholder matters.

“I have had the pleasure of working with David from the earliest days of the Toronto Arbitration Roundtable” noted Brian Casey, a leading arbitrator with Bay Street Chambers. “He has a well-deserved reputation for combining a first rate legal mind with down to earth practicality, a combination that makes him an excellent arbitrator and mediator.

“David is the consummate arbitrator with a broad experience” added Peter Griffin, partner at Lenczner Slaght LLP. “I do not hesitate to commend him as arbitrator to those who are looking for a skilled commercial arbitrator with special skills in the real estate world.”.
